Our Story

EvaGenomics was founded by Derya Karaarslan, an innovator passionate about bridging the gap between patients and modern science. Recognizing that millions of people spend years navigating the healthcare system without answers, Derya and her team built EvaGenomics on the belief that genetic testing, when paired with AI technology, could shorten this painful journey.

Today, EvaGenomics is making advanced genetic analysis not only accurate but also affordable, approachable, and actionable.

Derya Karaarsian

Derya Karaarslan is the Founder and CEO of EvaGenomics. She holds a master’s degree in Biotechnology, and has experience in clinical genomics, genetic data research, and genomic technology. A former startup and operations leader, her background also spans healthcare innovation and company building. She is an active ecosystem builder in Michigan, bringing together founders, scientists, healthcare leaders, and innovators through community initiatives and events. She founded EvaGenomics to help undiagnosed individuals make better use of their genomic information while building data that can contribute to research and better health solutions.

Murat Yaman

Murat Yaman, Ph.D., is a scientist with a background in molecular biology, genomics, bioinformatics, neuroscience and hematology. He earned his Master’s degree in Medical Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Groningen and his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Bilkent University. He currently conducts research at the University of Michigan, combining laboratory, computational, and data-driven approaches to better understand blood clotting disorders and support improved patient care. As a Scientific Advisor to EvaGenomics, Murat brings a thoughtful scientific perspective and a strong interest in translating research into meaningful real-world impact.

Chief Scientific Officer

Jason Hudak

Jason Hudak, Ph.D., PMP joins EvaGenomics as Fractional Chief Scientific Officer, bringing over 16 years of research and R&D leadership across academic and industry biotech to the company's mission of turning years of uncertainty into informed next steps. Jason earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry/Chemical Biology from UC Berkeley under Carolyn Bertozzi and completed his postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School with Dennis Kasper, building a career centered on immunology, microbiome science, oncology, and genomics/NGS. As founder of Hudak Scientific Consulting, LLC, and PMP-certified program leader, he has directed multi-faceted R&D programs from bench to clinic, including a hit-to-lead discovery program that reached an FDA IND, and has managed cross-functional teams spanning academia, CROs, and executive leadership. At EvaGenomics, Jason will apply this scientific rigor and operational discipline to strengthen the research foundation behind the company's AI-powered whole-genome analysis, helping more patients and families move from unanswered questions to informed next steps.

Mark Olsem

Mark Olsem brings over 20 years of experience spanning life sciences, clinical diagnostics and precision medicine industries in Marketing and Commercial capacities. Prior to joining EvaGenomics, he held leadership roles at Illumina and Hologic. At Illumina, he was integral to the launch of one of the world’s most widely used tumor profiling tests. And at Hologic, he was instrumental in accelerating growth of the acquired Biotheranostics Inc., precision genomics organization. Mr. Olsem earned a bachelor’s degree in bioengineering from the University of California in San Diego.
